Former Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist and 'Sweet Home Alabama' co-writer Ed King dead at 68.
In recent months, King had been battling cancer. On Thursday his family announced his death.
According to his Facebook page, the retired guitarist died Wednesday at his home in Nashville.
King was one of three writers of "Sweet Home Alabama," which was released on the album "Second Helping" in April 1974. The rollicking track begins with King counting "1-2-3," before the guitar lick that generations have come to know as a tribute to the state of Alabama.
In memory of Ed King and his contributions to the music world through his guitar, Insider Choices have decided to release this limited edition Guitar necklace.
A portion of the proceeds will go towards funding cancer research.
